In loving memory of Cst. Rick O’Brien, we carry forward his passionate vision and unwavering commitment to uniting youth and law enforcement. 

Cst. Rick O’Brien’s legacy lives on through the values he embodied every day—kindness, service, connection, and community.

Known for his enormous heart, his love of kids, his passion for hockey, and his unwavering commitment to helping others, Rick had a unique ability to make people feel seen, valued, and important. Whether he was serving as a police officer, mentoring youth, coaching from the sidelines, or simply sharing a conversation, he believed that meaningful relationships had the power to change lives.

Following Rick’s death in the line of duty on September 22, 2023, his spirit continues to inspire the work of the Foundation. Through programs, events, and initiatives that bring people together, we honour his belief that stronger communities are built through connection, compassion, and showing up for one another.

The Cst. Rick O’Brien Joint Forces Foundation exists to create meaningful opportunities for connection, belonging, and community.

Inspired by Rick’s belief that relationships have the power to change lives, we bring together youth, first responders, families, and community members through inclusive programs, events, and experiences that foster understanding, trust, and human connection.

We believe that when people come together with open hearts, barriers begin to disappear. Conversations happen. Relationships are built. Communities grow stronger.

Our mission is to create spaces where people feel seen, valued, supported, and connected. Whether through sport, community events, mentorship, wellness initiatives, or shared experiences, we strive to bring people together in ways that encourage empathy, resilience, and a sense of belonging.

At our core, we believe connection is one of the most powerful tools we have. It strengthens individuals, supports mental wellness, builds safer communities, and reminds people that they do not have to face life’s challenges alone.

Rick understood that some of the most meaningful moments happen when people simply show up for one another. His legacy lives on through every conversation, every friendship formed, every life touched, and every opportunity we create for people to come together.
